make-a-like-a-banshee and rock out to some desmond child ... he's a hitmaker.

I guess you can tell I sorta got sidetracked in my efforts to design a Sauce logo. So to make up for my slacking I decided to put together a little BS freebie mix for your listening pleasure or maybe your listening displeasure, depending on how picky you are about sound quality.
The deal with this mix is that last summer I brought a small tape recorder to our recording sessions to tape the band working on our forthcoming album Ice Mountain, which is due out winter 2009. What I recorded was the band demoing songs for the new album, rocking out tunes from Chooklyn, riffing on stuff we'll never play again and our usual witty (at least to us) studio chatter. The tapes also captured what would become our last sessions in Chicago at 6 Ft. Studios, which closed for good this fall. So here's your chance to be a fly on the wall and get a peak at BS in the studio, warts and all. ![]() Players: Goss: vox, drums and harmonica Bram: vox, guitar and keyboards Justice: bass Stevie: drums and misc. percussion Care Bear Bunny: vox Play List: People People What Do You Want (Reprise Introduction) (mp3) Bram and I try our best to recreate the intro to People People What Do You Want (Reprise) and kinda succeed. 12-Piece Chicken Dinner (mp3) This is the first song on the mix that we actually recorded for the new album, which will probably end up as a b-side instead of an album track. It's our attempt at a country tune, which I wrote after asking my girl to "put the chicken in the fridge." It's not a sexual innuendo, just a sincere request for her to put real chicken in a fridge. Listen for my awesomely naive harmonica playing. This song also features our fair-weather drummer Stevie. You can hear him at the end of the tune tring to remember the complex lyrics I wrote. Who Doesn't Like Care Bear Bunny? (mp3) This is a short duet between Bram and our close friend, Care Bear Bunny. I miss you Care Bear Bunny. Random Bramstrumental (The Ditty) (mp3) What BS mix would be complete without a bramstrumental? It features just Bram and Stevie melodically rocking. It is probably the most complete and best sounding song on the mix. I should add there's a twist at the end of this song where the listener discovers this bramstrumental may be destined for lyrics. Hard core rap lyrics! Also listen for Justice's M. Doughty impression. (Yer Rockin' To) Our Single Debut (mp3) It's a little sloppy at the start and middle and we don't actually finish the song, but nonetheless we rock hard on this fan favorite from Chooklyn. Probably the only live version you'll ever hear of this song, so enjoy. So Happy (Instrumental) (mp3) It's the return of So Happy! Loyal followers of the BS blog will remember this song from a few postings back. It's an old riff that BS never got around to actually recording. There were big plans to record this for the new album, but again we did other things and didn't get to it. Someday, So Happy, someday. The song features the original line up for the first recording, with Justice on bass, Bram on guitar and me on drums. Dying Is A Good Education / Boners In The Sunset (mp3) This is probably the best snippet from the tape of actual Justice, Goss and Bram studio chatter and bickering. It has all the trimmings of BS in the studio, from bad dick jokes to arguments about music. It features my favorite Bram comeback to Justice and I, "Well you told me you like metal stuff and stuff" It also features a clip of Bram and I working on another tune for the new album, What Happened On Amsterdam. For a treat at the end, listen closely and you'll hear the infamous Justice slur kicking in. Disco (M) Fort (mp3) This could be our best, i.e., kinda complete, rendition of a Chooklyn song live. It starts to crash and burn near the end, but Bram rallies the band by requesting that we "rock it metal for a little bit." When Bram makes the request to rock it metal, we try our best to deliver. Also, great band gang up on Stevie at the end. I know it sounds dirty, but it's not. Fancy Ketchup (mp3) This is the last demo of a song for the new album. It's mostly Bram and Stevie rocking out, but I do show up at the end to try out the lyrics I wrote for the song. I'm not sure where Justice is, probably sleeping somewhere. Attack Of The Stinky Pinkies (mp3) While the last song is kinda muddy, there's no denying there's genius behind it. This song is the third song from our faux Bucky Starlark soundtrack, which also includes The Theme To Bucky Starlark and Mr. White Pussy. We did not get to officially record this, but who knows. i've heard of rhapsody and i know what it is. but i have never had an account, nor have i wanted one.
