Lost Shots O' Sauce -- Part III
This series of lost shots were taken during three different practice sessions at Justice's third floor pad. I snapped a bunch of pics at both practices, knocking off a roll of 36 and a roll of 24. Since there's a lot here, I'll post 'em slowly across a coupla weeks. And of course I'll drop some knowledge behind the shots as well.

Bram rockin bass!?! It's true that Bram's been known to drop some basslines for the Sauce, but it's not too often you actually catch him in the act. In both pics he's banging on Justice's bass, which looks somewhat awkward on him as Justice is a southpaw. I'm not sure why he's messin' with Justice's bass, but it made for some good pics.

The Jim Hurley Experiment, Track 2 - Lithium
here's another ditty performed with jim at the art's fest shindig. i think we do an OK job, but i don't know if this tune has quite the right energy for a live show. in any case, here's the bone sauce live rendition of the nirvana classic:

Penn State Arts Fest 1994 - The Jim Hurley Experiment, Track 1
Every summer, Penn State has a horrendous Arts Festival, which brings in tons of tourism, complete with tie dye shirts and birkenstock sandals. But at night, something beautiful happens. The beer runs free from the taps at just about every house in downtown State College.

At one such house in the summer of '94, Bone Sauce played its final show with original drummer Pat Quinn. Pat had graduated college in May of that year, but had returned to town for the festival and a farewell performance.

After playing a set with Pat, the band performed its one and only set featuring the drumming talents of Jim Hurley.

The momentous event was captured on video. The original tape may now be in the hands of Goss, But I recently uncovered a cassette dump and transfered it to mp3 for all to enjoy.

The Jim Hurley Experiment, Track 1:
Killing in the Name

p.s.
Things didn't really work out with Jim. It could have been his mandals or perhaps his China Boy cymbal. Or maybe the fact that he wouldn't share his fries. In any case, we didn't so much kick him out of the band as we just stopped calling him.

Lost Shots O' Sauce -- Part II
Shots from the practice at Bram and I's apartment. I don't know whether I made a print of either pic at the time, so I'm guessing this is the first time anyone is seeing them. I'm almost certain I spent more time printing shots of the full band at this practice, sans me.

(Oh and notice both Bram and Justice sporting cow stickers on their guitars, in reference to the Does Cows.)

Next time I'll post a few pics from some practice sessions at Justice's place.

here's a little sumthin' for all you texas ...
there are two things that never get enough credit in the world of bone sauce:

1. the influence of the motor city madman
2. mellow

mellow is truly a rare bone sauce recording. not only has it never appeared on an official album release, it was also the last 4-track recording before goss and bram left the hallowed halls of penn state.

i believe this was recorded at the same time as if i ran the circus. sure, it was a bit of a goof, but i enjoy it to this day. the lyrics (if you can call them that) riff on the intro of a ted nugent song. we'll let you figure out which one.

the music is something we started rocking out, but we didn't really know where to go with it. also, since the college days were winding down, it didn't really seem like a priority. and, more importantly, we may have been running late for $1 nachos at champs.

now, for your listening pleasure: mellow
